Outside the United States

If you’re outside the U.S., the International Association for Suicide Prevention maintains a directory of crisis centers by country. Search “IASP crisis centers” plus your country name, or contact your local emergency number.

Supporting someone else

If you’re worried about someone, it’s okay to ask directly: “Are you thinking about suicide?” Asking does not plant the idea or increase risk – it opens the door for them to talk. Stay with them or make sure they’re not alone, help them contact one of the resources above, and remove access to lethal means (medications, firearms) where possible. You can also call 988 yourself for guidance on how to help someone else.
